UP FOR SALE: A very hip replica of a ’55 Fender Precision that has "THUMP" for days!!! I'm the 2nd owner of this custom built beauty. The following description is from the original owner: She's got an Ash body and a beautiful MJT Custom Shop contour, shot with nitro lacquer, with perfect aging and checking that looks 63 years old. The custom wound single-coil pickup is from RSP; cloth wiring. These parts are Fender and have been aged: pickup and bridge covers/screws; control plate/screws and knobs; strap buttons; pickguard/screws; larger (correct) string ferrules; and pickup jack. New Fender parts not aged: neck plate/screws; tuners/screws; and string guide. Strings are new Fender flats, 9050ML. The maple neck is from Allparts and sprayed very lightly with nitro lacquer. The two-saddle brass bridge is a Wilkinson. Looks like an original but the saddles have grooves to keep the strings in place better. The authentic single-hole, black wooden thumb rest came from my good friend Detlef Schmidt, who authored the books “Fender Precision Bass: 1951-1954” and “Keith Ferguson: Texas Blues Bass” (which I did the layout for). The headstock decal is a period-correct repro. The bass was assembled by Steve Olson at Elderly Instruments, who has done about six different axes for me. The bass is 8.8 lbs and 1.625 on the nut. There’s a pinup water-slide on the back. If you don’t like it, just get it good and wet and she’ll slide right off. The bass will ship with an SKB HSC All in all, this is a truly killer P bass that’ll hang with any Fender Custom Shop. $1,000 + Shipping (CONUS only) I’d rather sell her outright as opposed to trading her for another bass ... but I’d consider an EBMM Sterling / Sandberg VM4 / 4 string ‘Ric / Roadworn P bass / Tony Franklin fretless / Various Strymon pedals / (+or- cash from either side) Lastly, Sorry about the way the images came out with the all that black, blank space surrounding each shot {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {}
Beautiful bass. Not to go off topic but I really dig Apollo's Ghost . . . really tasty playing, ballsy deep tone, great stuff. Good luck with the sale!
