This 1958 P does look original and correct, (but I’m not an expert)
It’s a cool, well worn survivor.
This prices are really climbing on these vintage guitars.
They’re asking $14,000 for this one!

I’m just posting for the eye candy.... it’s way out of my price range!

    True, But $14,000 cool?..

I do like the "well worn" ness of it, as it looks actually believable. Some of the "well worn basses" are a little bit of a stretch (IMO), especially when its on , say a 1989 p bass , looking like it was tied to a car and dragged around the country since then...and the seller says its just a well taken care of example, that was gigged every night in smoky bars for most of its life. And that its so worn, because it plays so well, so it got played a lot...etc..

Oh snap, here I am, off the rails again..

    I don't think $14k cool.
Guitars are becoming like collector cars. An investment commodity for the rich.

Mecum, Christie's, etc.. auctions, live on the TV shows isn't good for normal income folks that want to buy a vintage guitar.

    Hello Wisebass,

The seller has the nerve to want $75. Shipping!

I should send them a Burning fire listing and tell them how overpriced it is!

" you have a lot of nerve charging all that for 61 year old bass when I can buy a brand new one for $55.!"

I'm sure it would be appreciated....

I could have a new AVRI Precision and a big stack of Andy's Mesas and a PILE of cash left over from 14G. C-Ya !

14k for a NOS near mint example, maybe, but about 5k too much for that one. It's more of a player grade instrument in that condition.

I'd never pay that amount of money, but the fantasy is finding one at yard or estate sale, on Craig's list as "old guitar" or be given one by a relative, friend, neighbor, etc...

    Very cool.

A friend of mine, who has many amazing old instruments, has an original ‘58. He gigs it with a Ampeg flip top. His is incredibly worn.

What you do is go ‘edit’, then ‘more options’ and you can change the title :)
But you have to do it within one hour these days.
