I am looking for any information on a 1960's Kingston Bass. P-Bass style, 1 pickup, Volume Tone knobs. Any information links or anything you have give a shout. I will post pic's of my new little bass tonight or tomorrow if possible. I want to put it back to playable, but I need your help :help:

  2. try going to myrareguitars.com
and e mailing the fellow there.

he is an afficionado of oddball euro, asian
etc basses and guitars from 60's and 70's.

    hope that helps.

  3. I'd love to see those pics. My first bass was a shortscale Kingston I bought for $50 from the original Mel Bay Music store where I grew up in Kirkwood, MO. I played that sucka' for a year until I got my first "real" bass - a Fender Musicmaster... :D

Does anyone have any info on these?
I am looking for anything and everything on this bass!

  7. I had a Kingston guitar amp when I was a kid. It sucked. Hard. Nice tremelo, though.

FWIW, everything screams "late 60's, early 70's Japanese" on there.

So, from what I have found out, this is a PB-1 Made for Kingston, probably by Kawai, from 1977 to 1983. I have to pull off the pick guard to see if I can find some sort of code for a date type of thing. This was the least produced of the PB-1 or the JB-1(jazz bass) basses  They also made the Gibson MB-1 basses. Very little is known about these though other than what I just listed.
I need More!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :help:

According to what I have learned your bass is a JB-1, unless it is Blonde with a Maple board than it would be the JB-2!
