...made the same year I was born, was what I kidded my wife about as birthday gift for my 50th. Well, come to find out she made some phone calls and got a few friends involved (Lenny Bonamassa..yes Joe's dad!) in a nation wide hunt. She surprized me when I walked into the music room and it was hanging on the wall.

    What can I say....

Was this one on TB Classifieds awhile back? The mojo looks familiar.

BTW if you've got a wife that will spring for that kind of BDay gift... AND your own private music room... You are living well indeed.

One owner and it had the original strings on it too. Foam mute in place on the bridge ash tray which I had to carefully remove as it was semi fused to the strings. Just an amazing specimen/ time machine. I put a few different strings on, and so far like it best with LaBella flats. Sounds huge!

Purchased from Neal's Guitars in Philly. Good guy and treated my wife quite kindly.

There's a certain special cool vibe about having a "birth-year" bass, I sold a nice 64 Precision to pay for my 1956 "transition" model.... my birth year.

I don't know what's more incredible, your awesome wife, or that it had original strings.

    Happy birthday.

    Happy birthday!

I don't know you but I bet you deserve this great bass! Your wife is a very sensible person, that's an awesome gift!!

PS: and I see you have GHS precision flats there, I can tell by the silk color and the E string that always get a little too much string wound in the tuner post. Wish they made the E string a little shorter...

  20. Awesome wife.
What more could a bass player want?
'63 P-bass and an understanding wife...
OK, maybe a few million would be cool too but so far you got all the bases covered.
