First...let me state that this bass is NOT FOR SALE....nor will it ever be!
I need to update my out-of-date insurance and I gotta try to figure out what I should value this at.
The bass is a 1964 Gibson Thunderbird II. It is 100% original except one tuner is chrome instead of nickel. It had a very pro headstock repair at some point and is ALWAYS in tune. Now the kicker.....it's PELHAM BLUE. I can't find anyone that's ever even seen a Pelham blue one, much less owned one. Not that it matters, but this was used on Mighty, Mighty, Bosstones records and several other big name artists records. It was in a famous producers collection for years.
    Any help?

For insurance purposes Gruhn is a great way to go.

You really have to put up some photos of that bass, y'know...

Here is a second endorsement for Kevin (Kebo) at GoodGuys. He is absolutely THE T-bird expert.

The above suggestions are right on.

I have a 64 T-bird IV. It's had the typical headstock repair done by a pro, and the bridge pickup replaced at some point. Other than that it's original. I had it appraised at longstanding vintage shop and he said $7,500 for insurance purposes (I have about $600 in it from about 20 yrs ago). What you have would obviously be worth more, but that might give you some idea.

Throw a pic up here so I can lust over that Bird!

Thanks man! It's yellowed to a cool green. Every gig someone freaks and tells me I'm crazy to take it out of the house! This thing weighs like 7.5 pounds and sounds like a freight train.

Cool. Don't think I've ever seen that color before. I wonder if it was a special order or something.
