It was actually November 11 when this long-awaited release finally hit the shelves, but wanted to see if anyone else in TB-land is enjoying this long overdue release as much as I am, having been a fan since it first originally aired. Just got this as an early Xmas gift from a good friend and I'm making my way through it a few episodes at a time, excellent job on remastering, brings back so many fond memories and LOTS of uncontrollable laughter (especially in the Joker and Penguin episodes), this to me was the real Batman. I honestly tried to like the dark/goth/humorless/ultraviolent Batman movies and such, but with the exception of the Jack Nicholson/ Michael Keaton film, NOTHING gets close to the campy hilarious fast paced 60's Batman for me. (plus, I do like the old movie serials and newspaper dailies, which were more serious but at least enjoyable). Anyone else out there got this and enjoying it?
Had a tool/spray for nearly everything...but couldn't keep Kato from kicking Robin's butt. ...LOL LOL LOL
I can remember watching the very first episode. My parents were buying furniture and parked us on a couch in front of a TV in the store. I was six years old and my brother was nine. We thought that this was the best show EVER! It's weird to remember exact details of something insignificant that happened forty-nine years ago. But no, I don't own it on Blu Ray, I very rarely watch any television at all these days. I did want to share this photo though...
I have to check that out--that's cool. I have the movie they did after the first season (on DVD) and I love that--but I'd love to see this all again. And drummer--I love that picture.
I used to watch re-runs of that show. At the time, I was a kid and didn't know they were re-runs and was originally aired a decade ago. When I was watching a rerun of it a couple of years ago, I was shocked. Batgirl's outfit was really racy in today's standards.
I remember that from the reruns when I was a kid. Something is just wrong about fighting crime in purple-ish long underwear.
I don't have that but I do have the movie from the 60s on DVD. It's terrible, which is why I love it. My 2.5 year old daughter likes it too.
I put the word in as soon as I heard that it was going to be released on November 11th with my wife back in October that I wanted this set for Christmas. Hopefully she remembered and was able to buy it. I too have the 1966 Batman, The Movie on DVD which is so bad it's funny. My version has two audio versions on it. One with just the standard dialogue and a second where Adam and Burt are narrating what's going on and giving their personal comments of the scenes and actors, producer and director throughout the entire movie. TD
My copy (Or actually copies--I have two) both have the commentary track. They do get a bit off topic at times... But they seem to have had fun with it
The Long-Lost Original Batmobile Is Up for Sale The very first batmobile is for sale. This modified 1956 Oldsmobile 88 is a far cry from the Batmobile we’re familiar with, but the color scheme is unmistakably Batman. In 1956, DC Comics (then called National Periodical Publications) officially licensed the first Batmobile to Oldsmobile. Forrest Robinson and friend Len Perham began modifying the car in 1960. They finished their work in 1963, beating the Burt Ward / Adam West Batman series by three years. The car is based on what the dynamic duo drives in the comic books; it’s a far sleeker (if smaller) car than the 1939 Cadillac driven in the Batman movie serials of the 1940s. This car was originally silver in color. http://www.popularmechanics.com/car...st-original-batmobile-is-up-for-sale-17426577
My daughter got this for me for Christmas. I haven't watched it yet, but almost every time I walk by the box I hit the button and play the theme.
I was just 9 when it debuted, and never missed an episode. I've been DVR'n the Batman repeats on IFC as of late ... still funny as ever! Holy guacamole!
