66 p bass sunburst--well loved!!! almost all original. changed parts are:
    -pots (new CTS replacements installed)
-pro refret (bigger frets-done before i had it) plays great
-nut was changed at some point

    all else original.
Jan 66 neck date. pickups date Jan 67. F plate #185XXX
pearl dot neck plays great. pickup is strong. this is an old one that you gig on--no issues. has nice but non original HSC seen in pic. $3450 shipped in the lower 48. cashiers check or money order only please. let me know if you have any questions.
    thanks a lot. tim.

You sure that's the OHSC? I thought the 60's cases were slightly different and that case is in a hell of a lot better shape than the bass. Was the bass re-finished? Looks like it may have been. Just asking...

it says non original HSC (it's nice though)...
not refinished--had several folks that are very knowledgeable look at it--neck pocket is correct--the color is right for 66--sometimes i've seen it called "targetburst"

That finish looks right. The yellow underneath the burst is the sanding sealer/primer that was used.

  8. holy smack that bass has got massive mojo, and im pretty sure if kicks the living daylights out of todays custom shops

I'll vouch for the "targetburst". Here's my 1966 Precision with original finish for reference.

Why? Have you played it? Heard it? Played or heard a custom shop?

thanks for the link to the finish on yours--my buddy has a 66 jazz and it's that way too....
all basses are different, so it would be up to whoever is playing it to compare it to a custom shop bass, but I can tell you that it a great old bass with no issues. it plays really well, and a has a strong sounding pick up. ready to gig....

'66 still had the nitro finish, right? (I think they switched to polyester in '68...)

Does this have the backward-tuning Kluson machines?

I love the silver Fender logos :)

Very nice. Nash Guitars should use that as a reference bass for aging.
