Not looking for any trade offers - thanks.

N.J. (north/central) local sale/pick up is preferred - but will consider shipping for a serious purchase offer.

All-original vintage 1967 Ampeg SB-12 Portaflex flip-top combo amp, with original matching blue checked vinyl amp cover w/white piping – 100% stock and mint cond! Price reduced to $1499
Available for local sale/pick-up in North/Central NJ (Chatham/Summit/Morristown area).

This amp is a true ‘closet classic’ – never gigged, and very little at-home use - stored all these years with cover on, in a temp/humidity controlled home environment – and the amazing as-new condition really shows it.

This would be a great addition to any recording studio or home studio – to add a warm mic’d tube bass amp sound to a tracked DI sound. Also a great tube amp for a vintage amp collector or vintage tone enthusiast.
This Portaflex 12” model was the studio preference of legendary bassist Chuck Rainey – who felt it had a better balanced/more even response than the more boomy/uneven sounding Ampeg B15 model.

Original dark blue checked vinyl amp covering AND matching amp cover (with white piping/trim!) are both in amazing condition, as is all the chrome, amp corners, and hardware – it all gleams like new.
The original silver/grey grill cloth is also immaculate and looks like new – with no stains, rips, etc.

Electronics/tubes (7868's) were all checked over by a vintage tube amp specialist and function perfectly – 100% stock - nothing has been messed with or modified.

Front panel has two inputs (instrument/bass) – with volume, treble and bass controls and power switch. See second shot below for a close look at the flip-top head and front panel controls.
The clear Ampeg Lucite logo plate above front panel lights up when power is switched on - and is just way TOOOO cool! No warping or discoloration of the Lucite plate like most of these get.

Original Jensen 12” speaker is in great condition – sounds great - no rotted surrounds or replaced speaker like most every vintage Ampeg Portaflex Flip-Top you see listed for sale.

Available for LOCAL SALE/PICK-UP - in North/Central NJ (Chatham/Summit/Morristown area). Would consider a reasonable distance drive to meet up with a serious buyer.
I MAY consider shipping to east of the Mississippi - buyer would be responsible for all packing & shipping costs, since I have no proprer box/packing materials for this on hand.
Serious inquiries only please! Sorry – no trades are welcome at this time.

PLEASE Private Message (PM's) only - to purchase - or for all questions (use the "Start a Conversation" feature) – or to reach me faster, email me at: bailey.gee@verizon.net.

This was the first amp I ever played bass through. ...couldn't even dream of affording one back then ...'65, maybe? Even back then I could tell it sounded way better than the $40 Kay amp I ended up with. This is the sound of bass in the '60's!

Nice amp. Does it have the dolly or did these not come with one?
