I'm not anxious to sell to this bass and don't have to but have recently moved and may be relocating again for work so I am looking to downsize on my gear. I currently have this and most of my gear at a friends studio but I took tons of pics beforehand. I am putting it out there and am willing to sell if for the price I want. It is a mostly original '68 Tele Bass in extremely rare Lake Placid Blue faded to a beautiful green. You don't see these too often. Only thing not original as far as I can see is the white Pickguard which is common on these metallic colored basses...the original single ply nitrocellulose pickguard would disintegrate over time from a chemical reaction and the clear coat over the LPB paint would yellow over time giving the LPB a greenish hue except under guard and other areas not exposed. This is a typical phenomenon and IMO makes the color even more beautiful. August 1968 neck date stamped on butt end. The bridge ashtray/cover was put on incorrectly way back and you can see as color faded around it...was most likely done on purpose to avoid using the mute. This beauty has been played and it shows...a natural true relic from the past and its a work of art and still plays beautifully! This is a rare beauty! Comes with OHSC. $7,000.00 shipped CONUS. Not looking for trades. Usually am always up for a good trade but at the moment I am trying to downsize. I Love this bass and may end up keeping her if I sell some other gear first. So I may change my mind on this. Thanks for looking and feel free to ask any questions.
My birth year. My favorite color. I'm driving distance from the seller. I love telecasters. I even love Sting, who played a telecaster. Dream bass. Guess I'll keep buying those lottery tickets... GLWTS - but I'd keep it if I were you!
At first I was "$7000 for a reissue?" and then I realized that it's not a reissue. Real deal and a beautiful bass! GLWTS.
Thank you. Yup, The real deal here. I think the custom shop did have a run of these on LPB recently with gold guards. Think they were close to 5k if i remember correctly.
