1968 Fender Telecaster bass. All original with the exception of a rewound pickup (by Lollar) and a non original case. I purchased this from a known vintage shop, and they said the pickguard was original. I know many have disintegrated and have been replaced, but it was their opinion this one is original. It has shrunk as the pics show. The neck... the neck is an amazing piece of wood! Rock solid chunk of maple. C width and thick, but surprisingly easy to play. I love it. It has lots of nitro checking all over it, but heavy checking down by the nut and first fret. It's really cool. I switched strings from rounds to flats, and I didn't even have to touch the truss. Topped off with lollipop tuners. I have some newer relic covers that go with as well. Pickup (except rewind) original and dates 3/29/68. Pots date to 66 (not installed currently, but work fine). Since the solder wasn't original, I installed a Kelling solderless harness to try a different pickups. Finish is a beautiful aged original blond. It's 10 lbs 6oz on my bathroom scale. It balances very well and on the one gig I've played with it, I didn't even notice the weight. End of the day, this is a beautiful example of a first year Telecaster reissue that is really a great looking and playing bass. PRICE CUT! $2275 shipped CONUS.
Installed an American Deluxe bridge yesterday that I had on hand. Bolts line up with original bridge and original bridge can easily be reinstalled. The AD bridge make intonation a little easier with the individual string saddles. Both bridges obviously are included!
I wish I had the cash for this. Need to put a 1945 Martin 00-18 up for sale first. Maybe you'll still have it.
Nordstrand has split P pups that fit ... had one ,- liked it very much . ! it is a very cool bass ... i'd gently make it useable and keep it ... !!
I also have 2 additional pickups available including an overwound Novak split wind (12K) and a Jazz bass type double magnet (8.4K). I currently have the double magnet J type pup in it. Also, as mentioned above, I have an American Deluxe bridge with vintage style threaded barrels installed. Original bridge and pickup included.
Why is this still here?!? Seriously, if I didn’t already own one, I’d be all over this!....Somebody is gonna get a deal!!!
