Selling my 1968 Ovation Typhoon short scale hollowbody bass. It is 100% original. These are awesome, little known rare basses and are a great alternative to vintage Hofners and Gibson EB2D's at a fraction of the price. The complete body, pickups, bridge pots etc were made by Hofner in Germany, then shipped to the USA where Ovation made and installed the neck and offered it under the Ovation brand. The body's finish is nitro and is worn and checked but just adds to its vintage vibe. The one piece maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard is arrow straight with low action and plays great.
It comes with a near new Roadrunner hardshell case. was $1199, now $999 + actual shipping.

  4. Nice. Almost the Partridge Family bass. Yours is a Typhoon II and Danny "played" a Typhoon V

The most obvious difference being the number of controls and the selector switch location. The horns don't stick out as far. No chrome bridge/tailpiece cover. But it's close enough if someone were doing a PF tribute act.

i agree. i just prefer the earlier ones like the one above, that IMO, have a much nicer body style than the Partridge family ones with the longer "mickey mouse ear" horns.

  6. That instrument was such a great idea. Fabulous Ovation necks on Hofner body and electrics.
