1968 Telecaster bass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by ModulusQ5-122, May 11, 2011.

  1. I finally got it, here is the link to some pics, let me know what you guys think http://s1122.photobucket.com/albums/l536/Jordan_Muller/ I posted something about this bass about a month ago. A friend of mine that manages a pawn shop called me and said he had a vintage telecaster bass. Did more research on it today and found out a few things. It is a 1968, but a few things were modified. The pickguard is not original and the very tip of the control plate was cut off to fit the custom pick gaurd. the bridge isnt original and the pick up was routed for a split p that is also not original. what is something like this worth with the non original parts? Everything else is original from what i can tell.

  3. Depending on the finish and model of replacement parts, if you can get it for a grand would be great $1,500 not bad, $2,000 ????

The original pickguards are almost non-existant, due to 'gassing'.
The neck alone is worth close to $1000 if it's in OK shape with no issues.

  5. well holy crap im going to go put some money down on it because he told me $800 or make him an offer.

  6. And it also has the original case. Is the body stamped on these? because i took the neck off and saw the stamp on the neck but not on the body.

If by small country you mean my back yard... maybe; however highly unlikely.

Sounds like Dale Peters of the James Gang Telecaster bass........

  11. If he's talking $800 OBO, I'd go in at $700 and see what he says. ..... The bass sounds like a real nice player, good luck.

The only thing worthwhile on that bass is the neck. I'd say $700 is about right, provided the neck is not messed up. Routed body, missing pickguard, damaged control plate, non-original bridge, non-original pickup... that's pretty much a pile of junk right there.

  14. It also has the original bridge, bridge cover, and thumb rest that is cracked sitting in the case but is not on the bass.

  15. Dude, why are you still here? Go get the dang thing!!! ;)

bought from my Father's old bassist.
I'd tell you how much but then you'd kill me.
I'd play out with it if it didn't weigh a ton.
