1970 peavy 300

    :confused: should i get my friends peavy 300 or not, my friends say its great it sounds and plays good. but its solid state

    I don't recall the "300" model from 1970, but I used to have the "Bass Pack" from that era (200w rms).

    It was built like a tank, had some features I'd never use (dual preamps, distortion), but it wasn't very expensive; in today's market it's $200.

    I don't know of any better bass heads in the $200 price range. I'm not aware there is any collectors value.

    Go to Peavey's web site and download the manual for the item. My experience with Peavey items from that era are that they are servicable but not fancy items. A great many of us on here started on old PV heads and a 1x15 or 2x15 cab....in fact, some of us still use 'em. :p

    My $0.02 --> If it is cheap (well under $200) and works well at high volumes, it is probably worth it.
