Ive Recently spotted and played a 1971 jazz bass it had been jacoized(no pickgaurd and converted fretless) its price tag was pretty good and it had only one major blemish on the bottom edge of the bass. Can anyone tell me if the quality of those fenders is good and what are the woods.

P.S. this thing played like nothing ive ever felt!

Personally i think that any bass player should have a Fender, especially aa early '70s jazz... If you got a more experienced friend who can tell you if there's any problem with the neck try get it.
ps. i wouldn't leave it there

neck was fine, although it needs a wipe down(had to use my t-shirt at the time). Ive got a 1968 Ibanez Jazz which plays well aswell but this fender realy just blew me away.

Just want to know if they used Alder or Ash for the body.

I think fender mostly uses alder for the bodies. I LOVE my 76' jazz, I won't be selling it anytime soon. I would have to say my jazz and 73 p are godd quality, they both sound and play awesome. Buy the bass, it would be neat
