For a 1972 Fender "P" bass which are the correct tuners the FENDER stamp alone, or FENDER followed by the small "R"
I thought those came out in 73??

'72 had the (R). Here is a shot of the back of one of the tuners on my '72 Jazz bass. Should be the same for a '72 P-Bass.

Could be either or even a mix of both. My old 72 had three with R's and one without.

Man, that's a great macro shot. I'd love to have the hi-res version of that. Would look sick printed poster size hanging on my wall.
