Relisting, as the old post got too long. Once again very hesitantly attempting to unload this beautiful '74 jazz. It's a player for sure, not a collector as it's been refinished from very beat up black to natural. The neck is still beat up, but has been refretted and feels great. Plays very nicely, no upper register chocking at all. Pickups are original, pots date to '74, as does the neckplate, and the original bridge (currently changed to a badass) is included. Tuner plates are original, the pegs are reissues, the same used in current US reissues of 70's fenders. Nice and light for this era - I haven't weighed it, but it can't possibly be over 9 pounds. Trades? I'm pretty picky, but NEED a P bass of similar vintage, mods ok, rosewood board preferred. I'd even consider a Jazz if it's rosewood - reason being I have 3 maple board basses at the moment. I'm also into older G&Ls, MM Sabres and maybe a few newer fender types. Asking $1800 for outright sale. Mediocre soft case included.

Forgot a couple of notes - for one, I'm in NYC and southern CT depending on the day, and I'm not a 5 string guy as of yet. Some more interest but still here.

Ok... Big price drop bump before it goes off to consignment. How about $1600? I've seen similar refinned J's with changed pots or pickups going for more than this!

Sorry to be nit-picky but could you ellaborarte on "The neck is still beat up" comment. Bass looks good but what neck issues are there? Thanks.

Not nit-picky at all! The neck has no issues as far as playability - the frets are perfect, the truss rod works, it's just that much of the finish has worn off, all up and down the back of the neck. It's hard to describe and photograph, but I personally love the way it feels. Maybe I'll try a few more close ups.
