I've decided to sell my 1976 Fender Jazz Bass.

The serial number is 694042. There is no neck or neck pocket dating, as was common during this era.

Pots date it to the seventh week of 1976. Pot numbers are 1377607. I've added a photo of the pots on my post dated 07/22/2012.

The last two digits on the two pots at left are obscured by the solder connections. They are visable under the shielding on the pot at right, but not photgraphable.

    Natural finish ash body
Bound and finished neck with big block inlaid fret markers
    All parts are present
    100% original
Condition is 9.5 / 10....you would be hard pressed to tell it from new
Weighs in at 12 pounds on the bathroom analog scale.

I've owned this bass since 1989 and it has been in a smoke free, climate controlled environment all of the time.

Comes with the original hard shell, black tolex Fender case in excellent condition.

This is an exceptional piece as a player or as a collector item.

I'm only interested in cash deals. No trades, please.

[DEL]$3,550 [/DEL] $3,275.00 shipped, insured in CONUS. I accept PayPal.

Please PM me with questions, for more information and to make offers.

Photos of reverse side follow on the next post.

    Thanks for looking.

Photos of the numbers on the pots would be useful for dating the instrument.

Photos of the pots (below) indicate dating the seventh week of 1976. The full pot number is 1377607. The last two digits of the number on the two pots at left are obscured by solder. They are visable under the black shielding on the pot at right, but not photographable.

Hope this is helpful for those of you who are interested.

You play where the covers ain't.

    :smug:

It's not that hard (unless maybe you're slapping). Trust me.

And yeah, that J is a straight-up beauty.

And if you need to be extra quiet, you can play ON the covers- it just takes a little more left hand strength ;)

    Would that I could!

It's obviously not a one piece body, but it's a great looking bass nonetheless! I have its Precision cousin. Good luck with the sale.
