1976 Fender Precision Wiring?

Hi just bought a 1976 P bass and after looking under the pickguard noticed the wiring was quite thick? Normally I am used to seeing fairly thin bellwire. The soldering looks all original, so just wondering if anyone knows if Fender used varying wire thicknesses in them mid 70s?

Looks like the pickups may have been changed. I've been into many Fender basses and never seen that wiring. The pickups should have grey bottoms and be ink stamped with a 6 digit date code the last 2 numbers being the year. Edit to add: the pots and cap look correct but does your bass have a micro switch in the pickguard?

Pickups are dated 1976 and soldering looks unaltered (unless it was done many years ago).

No sign of a switch in the pickguard.

There is a bit of wire coming out from beneath the bridge which I haven't seen in a Pbass before?

I'm guessing nobody in teh Talkbass world has the answer then?
  6. When I opened up my P Bass, the wiring seemed fairly beefy, too. I didn't take any pictures, though, and it'll probably have to wait until I change some stuff before I open it up again. My memory's not all that good. Sorry.
