I never thought I'd do this, but here goes. This is such a cool bass, but I've never really played it live or used it for recording so off it goes. I'm not really looking forward to selling it, but here goes.

    1976 Gibson Ripper in ebony.
It is missing the bridge cover and original case.

I acquired this piece in 1999 from the original owner who is quite an accomplished bassist. The bad is that this piece is not in good cosmetic shape. There are numerous scratches, and it has a bumper sticker on the back. It does not have the OHSC but I will ship it in a case. If you want a pristine piece, look elsewhere. I have a pristine Lakland for sale on another thread.

I will sell it for $950 plus shipping

I already have one, but someone should buy this. Rippers have a really cool vintage vibe. Plus, the things are rock solid. I bought mine from my jazz band director in high school. Prior to my purchase, it had lived in a band room for 20 years or so. If a bass can survive that, you won't break the thing dropping it. Or throwing it, for that matter...

series /parallel/ out of phase/ in phase... position 4 is bright, but position one is more "vintage" sounding to my ears. It is actually pretty versatile for sounds in that it changes tones, but it won't sound like a Hi Fi modern bass or Jazz bass.

AFAIK, the parts are all original except for the sticker on the back, but that is an original circa 1970's. ;)

It is missing the original case, and bridge cover.

    So Cal
is it more a collectors piece or could it be an everyday bass?
