    1977 Blonde Fender Precision Bass

Fantastic playing and sounding, 100% ORIGINAL vintage Fender Precision in beautiful, original (see-thru) blonde finish over ash w/ maple neck. What can I say? It’s an absolutely awesome P bass. Its shows some wear and patina from age/use, has some dings, scratches, and finish wear here and there, but overall real nice shape for its age (the spot of worn finish by the pickup is NOT worn into the wood, just the finish). The back of the body also shows some stains from “case bleed”, but it’s purely cosmetic. The original pickguard has the usual crack by the output jack. No mods, no extra screw holes or routing, no repairs, no issues.

Neck is very straight and truss rod works great in both directions. Frets are original and were just recently leveled and crowned, and the playability is wonderful. Neck profile is on the thick side, but not a baseball bat like some ‘70s necks. It fills your hand nicely and is very comfortable. There’s one ding worth mentioning on the skunk stipe, but it doesn’t bother me at all while playing.
    • Ser #: S7 59643 (1977). Sticker on pickguard matches ser. # on headstock
    • Pickup Codes: Both are stamped 105177 (1977)
    • Pot Codes: 137-7712 (12th week of 1977). Volume pot obscured by original solder, but is identical in construction and patina to the tone pot.
    • Solder joints are all original and untouched.
Bass isn’t a “boat anchor” like most mid ‘70s basses, but it’s still hefty at 10 lbs. 4 oz. It’s also very well balanced, which makes it feel lighter than that to me. Case is a late 1960s/early ‘70s “tail logo” (perhaps was left over from the factory?), and in good condition except one latch is broken.

Get yer Simonon on! My '77P is around 10.5 lbs and, because it balances so well, is actually more comfortable to play than my 8 lb '64P. Free bump for a cool bass.

This is gorgeous. Are trades an option? And I hope you are enjoying the pickups :)

I haven’t installed em in anything yet, but I’m sure I will sooner or later! I’ll consider trade offers, but I’m not looking for anything really in particular. Trying to thin the herd of basses more than anything right now...
