Can't believe I am selling this bass!!!!! Reason is below.
For sale, or best offer, a beautiful condition, all original Fender Precision Bass in blond with a maple neck.
The serial number tells its birthday as 1978-1982.
I have not taken it apart as I don't want to disturb anything about this bass.
Lots of pictures to see and will gladly answer any questions.
Includes the original tweed case with the orange inner fuzz (pretty).
Selling because I have a broken left index finger that will not bend at the middle knuckle. The Jazz neck fits my hand better, and no pain after a 3 hour gig. This is why the P is for sale.
    Thanks, Bruce P1040216.JPG

I have been told this bass is not blond, but is natural.

Seems for 16 years I have called her "Blondie".

Oh well, sorry for the mistake. Bruce

What a beauty...love the grain!! I have a natural '76 Jazz Bass w/maple neck but it's a bit too heavy these days and my daily driver '79 fretless precision wants a fretted mate. What's the weight?

She weighs out at about 10#. That Jazz bass sounds delicious!! I have had four vintage P basses and this one is by far as the best sounding of all of them. This bass has a wonderful big fat sound all over the neck. I also have a 2013 60's Road Worn Jazz that I also play alot and really like. It blew away my vintage Jazz bass, so I sold it. Thanks, Bruce

I will pull the neck off this afternoon and look for some year made info, if this will help. I am also aware of the volume and tone control can have a year made number on them. Thanks, Bruce

Just took off the neck, and shows as a 1982 and has the J. Torres ink stamp on it.

    OK guys and gals.
I just removed the neck on the P bass I have for sale.
Shows to be a 1982 bass with the J. Torres ink stamp on it.

The serial number decal on the headstock suggests "S" for 1970s, S9 for 1979 ....usually done when the neck was made. It likely sat in inventory for a while until they assembled it with a body, and I'm guessing that's what the penciled date of 7-20-82 indicates. My fretless precision is a '78 neck mated to an '80 body (I split the dif and call it a "79). They're GREAT sounding basses with great necks! I'd grab this in a heartbeat if it were lighter...I've had some unrelated back issues and looking for a lighter bass to gig with. But there couldn't be a better mate for my '76 Jazz Bass (see pic). I'll have to give this a serious think.

This is an 81 P Special. This is Blonde. I assumed my Jazz in natural was blonde like you did. I had to call Fender to straighten that out! I think your price is awfully low my friend. Your bass is in beautiful shape! 20180918_183634.jpg

Nice Precision Special Tom! however, this is not technically called blonde either. Your Precision Special is most likely Arctic White that has yellowed / faded substantially. These P-bass specials were built between 1980-1982 and were offered only in Candy Apple Red, Lake Placid Blue, Arctic White & Walnut (rare) finishes.

Actually, the Fender P bass special of mine was made one year, 1982. The same year the Strat was built the same color with gold hardware like mine. The Strat special was made in 1982 and 1983. The serial number of mine is only in the limited and/or custom shop. I had to call Fender directly to find it. I was told my bass is blonde. But I only know what I'm getting from Fender or you and Talk Bass community. Cheers!
PS: it sounds as good as it looks!
