1982 Fender Vintage jazz bass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Lauralena, Dec 26, 2012.

  1. Hey, there
Anyone out there have one of these?
Does anyone know what year ('60s) they're modeled after?
I'm looking for that '60s slim tapered neck.
    I can't afford to get a '60s J bass.
Does anyone know of any other years/models J basses with that neck?
Can anyone help me out on this?

If you are referring to the 82-84 Fullerton era reissues, the Jazz basses were patterned like an early 60s Jazz. The necks were indeed very slim, and definitely slimmer than the later model Jazz reissues. The Fullerton era reissues are somewhat collectible now, and generally fetch more than a new reissue would. I have an 82 (57 RI) Precision and an 84 (62RI) Jazz that are both wonderful basses -- two of my favorites!

Check out the Squier Classic Vibe 60's bass - it may be what you're looking for and is very affordable.
