Hi all. I got this bass on a trade a couple of years ago here on TB. Well played and loved so it has been re fretted as they are flawless. Player grade bass, but all electronics work. I also just tested the truss and it is free. Bass is set up and ready to gig. I played it at rehearsal Sunday. Covid strikes and I need to let it go. $1000 shipped to Cont US. Ships in generic hard case. 8551BE38-2945-4AD5-B174-800FC45DBD86.jpeg 77B93251-16E4-4976-9F72-5A9CF30FD018.jpeg 9D23E2E0-F918-4679-B0A1-29699BF8AED9.jpeg DF067485-F09E-4A51-9183-8195EDE75BAB.jpeg BEDC09A7-CBD1-40D3-8221-A066D837B6BD.jpeg 069300DE-AE93-44F9-B794-08CE1D248D89.jpeg C80850F7-BAB2-4FB5-8A08-440C2F7A4BD1.jpeg 2366B61F-C112-4768-8503-77D8D2DD1C0B.jpeg F1E5DB3E-AAAB-4043-BFB4-73A39BF97411.jpeg

The El Toro has some cult status among G&L fans.
I had one I loved but it literally sent me to a chiropractor. If you can find one with a reasonable weight, it’s a very fun and versatile bass....

Thats funny.. back when I was a very teenager and just started playing bass I really wanted an El Toro, though living on the countryside in Denmark I ever only saw advertisements of them.. Now after literally 3 decades and a lot of MM's and Fenders later I finally got in to G&L and have two El Toro's within 2 weeks...one passive and one active.. same color.. The passive is quite light.. ha ha..

The passive ones are pretty rare. But many of them were heavy. Mine was about 12 lbs, and looked like it had been used in a dozen bar fights. It made this one look mint.

Fun fact: A singer I was playing with when I had the El Toro (circa 2000-2001) used a pic of me (live shot, playing the Bull) on a CD she put out. I never played on the album, not with the El Toro or any other bass. Worst part is that the music really sucked; the singer wrote all the music and wasn’t a very good song writer (or singer for that matter). She had two talents going for her: she was persistent as hell in getting gigs, and she managed to hire good players. The other guys in the band were all guns for hire like me; we went on to do dozens of other projects together, and still play together now. In fact, they are among my best friends over 20 years later. That was my first paying gig in Hollywood, but I’m embarrassed that my pic was on that CD.

I don’t have a scale yet but I would estimate 8lbs or less..

Yeah my left-arm-scale might need calibration.. but compared to some of my CT’s it’s definitely heavier; compared to one or two of my pre-EB MM’s it’s definitely lighter.. :D
