1985-1986 Marcus Miller Jazz?

    Well, its a marcus miller alright. But it sure as hell isnt from the eighties
  3. Mine is serial number 3345 and it's from 1998!

    the serial number on the neck is erased!!!!

    They got a nice close up of the headstock by the sig, but not the one with the SN#, and yes, the sn# looks like it has been erased! :spit:

    is buying basses on ebay more of a risk than its worth :eyebrow:

I'm gonna give these guys the benefit of the doubt, because if you go to Fender's Mr. Gearhead website and look at their guitar/bass dater, the serial number of the MM corresponds to what would normally be a MIJ 1985-1986 bass. Now, I figure they just looked this up, figured that was right, and posted it. I also figure they blocked out the S/N because they didn't want to post it all over ther internet. Most people show the S/N, it seems like a small verification of it's authenticity, but I guess they're nervous about it or something. So, that's where I think they got the date from.

    Now, if the heel of the neck says "Crafted in Japan," Mr. Gearhead shows a B+6 digits S/N to be from 1998-1999. So, I don't know if the MM jazzes are CIJ or if they just use a different numbering system, but I think it's a legit Marcus, they just didn't know how to date it based on the S/N.
