It was a known fact that Leo Fender only worked on red basses in his last days, so this bass being 1991 it's a great possibility Leo stroked this bass.

OK, that's all a lie, but here is a 1991 L2000 that is indeed from the last year Leo was alive (if that means anything to anybody).

    Serial# B023530

Plays fantastic, sounds great and is all original. Beautiful maple neck with hardly any noticeable fret wear. Will come strung with Fender medium round wounds (not whats currently on the bass in the pictures).

The only blemish other then some minor play wear is a finish check near the bass control. Please see the photos. This has been touched up with matching paint. Not very noticeable and does not effect playability. Also, some of the black on the control plate has been touched up.

Comes with original G&L case that has one crack in one corner. All latches work.

    Some more photos:

My travel scale wavers between 8.9 and 9.0 pounds. Let's call it 9 pounds even for weight.

Nut width. Looks like the standard 1 11/16:

Damn, this is the one. My first bass (not literally, but early-90s red/rosewood), I've been looking for it for awhile. Sweet!

Only 9 pounds! I must have a broken scale because mine read 12 pounds!

    Lovely bass, GLWTS.

I hear ya, I was pretty surprised at its weight too. I think my scale is pretty accurate because TSA says so;) and I've also weighed my Gibson SG (7.6lbs) and a few other basses and they all seem to be within normal weight specs.

For giggles I took my scale to Atomic Music which has 2 of the L1000's for sale and I was getting similar weights.
