Well, this arrived yesterday, and it's a beauty! Magnificent clarity, and beautiful harmonic signature. Feather weight! Super comfortable! Very close to BRAND NEW CONDITION!! What's not to like?? (sigh) Sadly, I could tell within five minutes that I'm just not going to jive with the 35 inch scale length. Was worth a try!! I started playing Medium Scale exclusively about six years ago, but the last couple of years I have been doing the bulk of my playing on Kramer short scales. And it turns out that 30 to 35 is just too much of a jump for me. (If you play 34 inch scale I doubt you would notice the difference - super slim profile and narrow nut width makes this neck super comfortable.) I highly recommend this bass for anyone who likes to play with distortion pedals, all-tube grit and/or a barrage of effects: the clarity is simply unmatched. I think you could also file this bass under "Ultimate Slap Machine" as well... See all the pics and description in the original listing here https://www.talkbass.com/threads/peavey-g-bass.1410395/ This bass comes with a nice gig bag. This can ship world-wide as there are no CITES issues, thanks to the Pau Ferro fretboard. I'll add a few more pics later...
...here are a few more pix, to supplement the listing link above: (Frets appear to be brand new, like the rest of this instrument - basically pristine) the carbon-fiber weave is basically invisible under the high-gloss piano-lacquer finish, but from just the right angle, you can make it out on the back of the headstock... (it's a light refraction effect, it is actually smooth to the touch) the small scuff at the top of the headstock - almost invisible... the only notable flaw is this tiny dent near the output jack - finish is dented in, but not broken to the point of flaking... here are some pics of the gig bag (with the bass in it) - the case is nicely lined inside...
Heads-up: if anyone here was pondering this, it's going up on reverb/ebay tonight, so might not be around much longer
that's a really cool bass. someone should take it. where does that pickup land on the string? it looks like it may be almost between a MM and P placement? interesting. or my eyes are messin' with me!
i thought i would share this post from a year ago when i scored my gbass. NBD: Peavey G Bass holo flake because of the 35" scale i do notice the added reach especially from the 5th fret down. i have a jazz bass but i like this neck better despite the 35" scale. i put 120-50 gauge strings on and love them with the longer scale.
I was the previous owner of this bass. Bummed to hear that it didn't work for you, but I can see how the jump from 30 to 35 would be really drastic. Heck adjusting from 34 to 35 took me a few weeks. This is a sweet playing and sounding bass people. The neck is slim and super fast. Peavey nailed it. Buyer will not be disappointed and you've got nothing to worry about when you're dealing with Mike.
It's on its way to Alberta now (just sold moments ago on Reverb). If they had made this in short-scale, I would own THREE of them...
