I’ve been putting this off for too long, but I’ll have to do it eventually, so here goes…after a 5 year search I’ve found my main players. In the process I’ve established a nice stable which must be thinned. I need to sell 2 of the following 4 basses, I really don’t want to sell any of them, and will let the market decide which go. The asking prices are all at or below my invested price, so there’s little to no wiggle room depending on the bass. In no particular order, and all in very good to mint condition:

MTD 535f, 1 piece ash body, maple neck, lined ebony board, all the tones are there, MTD hardshell case, $1850

Fbass, BN5f, ceruse green, ebony board, 2 mag and 1 piezo Pup, full preamp, Fbass gig bag, my bands favorite bass, $1850

Sukop fretless 5, mahogany body, flamed/burled walnut top, maple neck, unlined wenge board, gig bag, my BEST playing bass, $1,550

Rob Allen MB2f, flamed maple top, swamp ash body, lined cocobolo board, Rob Allen gig bag or Rob Allen hardshell case, my lightest bass, $1,550.

Pictures of all can be found at ImageStation in the electronic Gallery under Basses (leo013), or I can email pictures. Query here. [email protected], or [email protected].

TalkBassers are getting the first crack, it’s a sad day…

It's easier just to attach the file to your post.

The Sukop does have side dots, as I recall, they are at the intonation point (so many basses, so little time).

Thanks for all the help guys, it looks like I have it figure out, here's the Fbass,

I'll probably want to contact you after the 7th for either the Sukop or that luscious F bass.

You don't have to hold either for me...but I'm waiting for something to happen on the 7th.

Z, not a problem, it took me a month to work up the courage to put them up for sale in the 1st place. Heck, if I didn't need an enclosed trailer to haul my gear (the bed of my pickup now has a 5th wheel hitch in it), NONE of them would be for sale, but it's gonna' hurt to let any go, they're all keepers.

Sorry for the slow response (especially those who emailed me), I was camping in the high Uintahs Fri-Sun, and of course that's when I got 75% of the message traffic.

Donna, the R.A. is a 35 inch scale (very nice B string).

  11. I bet it is! I'm short, though, and even the 34 1/2" F Basses feel huge to me. I'm doomed to a custom order, I guess.

No firm offers yet, and I'm going to be out of town from 9 Aug-15 Aug, so I'll reduce the price on each bass by $50 and see if something will move by Saturday. If not, in an attempt to avoid *bay, it's off to Bassgear on the 16th.

These are all top end, top condition basses, no lemons in the lot! A recap:

    MTD 535f, $1,800
    Fbass BN5f, $1,800
    Sukop fretless 5, $1,500
    Rob Allen MB-2f, $1,500.

  13. I know you're on vacation--but are you absolutely sure that the Rob Allen is 35"?

I just went to Rudy's in NYC, an authorized dealer, to compare the 4 string and 5 string they have on their web site. The 5 was gone, being set up, but the salesman insisted that it's 34". He said that the change to 35" was so recent that none of them are available yet.

However, it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that the salesman was an idiot.

  15. Donna,
I think the saleman was an idiot. I was going to answer without checking that it was a 35' scale, but I thought that I would double check to make sure. It is in fact a 35' scale. I remember the bass feeling like 35'when I played one a little while ago. It had a great sound, but 35' is too long for me as well, and I'm a big guy!

You guys quit bumping this thread...I'm waiting for him to get back so I can get that F bass off of him. Now hush up.

  18. Rob Allen says:

"We only made a handful of 34" 5s in the early days, all production models are 35". The bass would have to have a
    serial# under 100 I believe."

Obviously I'm better off shopping with knowledgeable owners than with dingbat salespeople.

  19. Very nice basses.... I'm still a couple months out in getting that kind of loot. You probably won't have it but I'd like to stay in touch re: the F bass.

Im baaack! Well Donna, I wish it was vacation, this time of year it should be, but it was work, at least the weather was nice (for Georgia). The Rob Allen S/N is 233, and it is a 35" scale.
