2 Sadowsky Metros

Discussion in 'For Sale: Bass Guitars' started by MikeBass, Oct 17, 2005.

  1. Personal issues are getting the best of me right now, so I'm selling off two of my favorite basses.
I may also post my F Bass BNF 5, we'll see what happenes with these first.
Getting out of playing for a while, we'll see where it goes.
Some of you know I am a VERY big Sadowsky lover, and these are some serious examples of Metros.
The RV5 was sent back to Sadowsky for a re-fret and was done by Roger himself. Contact Sadowsky about a re-fret, it isn't cheap and his fret jobs are legendary, and this is a prime example.
I have very soild references here at TB.
And please, don't make fun of the hat!!! ;)

NO TRADES-unless your willing to take a loss on your end ie:Fodera Imperial 5/Garrison 5 (for both basses) , Smith BT5G (pick one) etc.....make it crazy for me not to except the trade!.

Both have the famous Sadowsky pre-amp and hum cancelling pick-ups.
Both are alder bodies with rosewood fingerboards.
Both have original factory softsided cases
Both are mint except for some VERY minor scuffing on the pick-guards.

    1) RV5- mint 1 year old. $1950 SOLD SOLD SOLD!!!!!
Olympic white, tort pickguard, VTC, chrome "bell" front pick-up cover.
    2) RV4- mint 4 months old. $1850 SOLD SOLD SOLD!!!!!
Black with black pickguard, VTC, HipShot/Sadowsky DeTuner, chrome "bell" front pick-up cover.

    Pix of black RV4 below

Will ship overseas, all shipping/insurance/taxes/etc is YOUR cost.

If you can't see the pics, try copying the image link and pasting into a new browser window.

After I did that, and while replying to this thread, the images are now down in the first post - here in the reply editing 'thread'. If I scroll down to the first post, the images are there.

...excuse ignorance. What is VTC? Is the RV4 a passive or active model?
  10. No problem!!
VTC is a Vintage Tone Control. Meaning, it has active electronics as well as a tone control ala' passive Jazz basses.
  11. Mikes RV4 is literally one of the finest J Type basses I've ever played. We still joke about it, because we both played it at LDS. I literally drove down to the store later that week to buy it and Mike had already purchased it!!!! It really, really sounds good.... a little heavier that some other Sad's, but that seems to translate into more punch and growl.

If I hadn't purchased two basses since then  , I'd consider it.

Somebody needs to grab that bad boy up quick!

PS The RV5 is the one that we A/B'd with my identical NYC Sad and found very little difference... also a very nice bass.

Comes up "not authorized" for me.

I could 'hold on' to that RV4 for a little while for you, totally free of charge, if ya wanted. That way, you could even come and visit it whenever you wanted to! ;)
  15. REALLY?!?!?!
I may take you up on that.
Tell ya what, hold your breath and stand by the phone k? ;)

    You guys are funny!!
Lemme know and I'll e-mail you directly some pix later.

In all seriousness, though, sorry life has forced the sale of your babies. I know you loved them. I am in the area, though, let me know if there's anything I can ever help out with.

I'd be all over that black one if I had enough money to be spending on another bass.

But if you're ever short on gear for a gig, or just need to get away and have a beer or something, give me a holler. Best of luck.
