2 Schroeder cabs or just 1?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by dominic54321, Mar 28, 2006.

  1. Which option below would be louder and sound better? I am trying to build my dream rig, but I am not sure if 2 cabs with less power would be better than 1 cab with more power. Or if there would even be a noticeable difference in overall volume. I need to play LOUD in the current band I'm in, and the louder I can be, the better! ;)
    1.) a Schroeder 410R -1400 watts RMS 4 ohm, powered with a 1500w-2000w amp.
2.) a schroeder 410R -1400 watts RMS 4 ohm, AND a schroeder 1212R -1000 watts RMS 4 ohm stacked, powered with 850 watts to each cab.

That second option will be louder, no doubt.

More importantly that first option will be LOUD, and the second will just be ridiculous. And by ridiculous I mean awesome. :)
  3. Awesome indeed! I was kicking aroung a third option as well...
    3.) a schroeder 310212L with a 1500w-2000w amp

I'm a fan of 4x10s and tube power. A good tube amp around 300 watts will have a much louder perceived volume through a couple of big cabs.

I've done the 310212 with a 3400 watt poweramp and I like the above setup way better.
  5. if you are doing 2 i would recomend a 1212L and a 1210L

that would be pretty retarded loud, and very very portable.

  6. That's a killer rig!!!

That was Jorg's excellent work. Best sounding cabs I've ever owned.
  9. The above setup will definitely be louder - more speakers = more sound, especially when you are pushing that kind of power... The 310212 is more like a 210 and a 212 in terms of actual output, there's no way that could compete with the above setup...

Call Jorg and talk to him, he's a tremendous help & very knowledgeable. If it an extreme volume/power situation, he'll prorbaly tell you to go with choice 2, as he did with me. I didn't go that way. I would up with a 310212 stacked on a 1212, I only add the 1212 on very rare occaisons.
  11. Well, after emailing Jorg, he advised that option #2(410R+1212R) would definately be louder! He also advised that the 410 alone could get seriously loud, and that the 2 cabs combined would KILL! :D
