BARCELONA, Spain — A huge fire at a music festival in Spain forced the evacuation of over 20,000 concertgoers and incinerated the event's stage in Barcelona, the regional government said Sunday. The festival in Barcelona was one of several offshoots of a main "Tomorrowland" festival in Belgium. Organizers said the Barcelona event was canceled following the fire....Ya think so? ..and let the cliches begin... NYTimes
Tommowland? Isn't that a Disney thing? If it is then, the 21st century in not turning out how I thought it would. I hope all the musicians got their instruments out. Doubt whether amps and drum kits survived.
it was "EDM DJ" Steve Aoki who was about to play, apparently... so hopefully all the pre-recorded USB sticks got out OK. some of those things are vintage models that date back to 2016. it did look dramatic but no one was hurt, thankfully.
A Bangkok club burned down with almost everyone trapped inside. It was pretty horrible & started by pyrotechnics the band was using. Santika Club fire - Wikipedia Oops, initial reports said it was pyrotechnics onstage, but after the investigation they determined it was from fireworks outside that lit the roof.
The strange thing is that everyone left the area in a calm and collected fashion. No screaming, no crying, no running, pretty boring for a festival
What, 20,000 people showed up to watch some guy run a computer? That's like paying to see the forest on a movie screen rather than being in the forest.
The draw is not the guy, it's the event itself. You rarely go to the club for the DJ, you go to mingle, dance and enjoy life. Same principle here, just outdoors and much, much bigger in scope.
Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out all this curmudgeon biz myself Didn't mean to step on any toes. I need more practice, clearly. Maybe when I'm 55 in a few more years. . . (2)
