I would buy the best possible bass I could get for 200. To do this, I would try as many basses in the 300 - 400 dollar range as possible, pick the one which played and sounded the best to me and then buy one used in excellent condition for 200 bucks online.

I would probably steal a warwick, then throw $200 at a hobo.

For $200 I can (and have) buy an SX bass and upgrade the pickups.

    easy......a used MIM P or J....would like to suggest a J for versatility (but that single coil hum)..so I say a P-bass.

    reasons:

    - it's a decent Fender
    - it's a P-bass
    - it works

    peace

    SX.

3TS Ash or the Stingray copy...

Or do what I did and spend the 200 on an Agile geetar...

I would actually go with an OLP MM2

    short scale SX Jazz.
109 dollars, and spend the remaining 90 bucks on upgrading the pickups or a distortion pedal and give that baby some built-in effect!

Either an SX or an OLP.

my used MiM Jazz fretless ran me $200, and I wouldn't sell it for twice the price.

Where do they sell those SX basses that you guys are talking about, I couldn't find them on Musiciansfriend.com?

    Thanks in advance,
    Justin

What's the quality like on the SX basses, if they are of good quality I was thinking of getting one of the 5 string versions as my second bass.

    Thanks in advance,
    Justin

  16. they are pretty good quality...i think that for the price, the quality is awesome!

  17. used P Bass... maybe with a Maple fretboard for clarity if you're really lucky!
