2000 MIM Jazz Pickup Inquiry

I read recently that the MIM Jazz I just bought (used) doesn't have the same pickup setup as the current ones. Meaning that the bridge pickup is the same size as the neck pickup. (The newer MIM Jazzes, and apparently the MIA Jazzes of the same age, have a wider bridge pickup)

Should I consider having the pocket routed larger and adopting the current design, or should just go ahead and stick with the current layout?

Also, I was thinking about putting Seymour Duncan passive pickups in it; should I just order two neck pickups and flip the wires on the bridge pickup?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
