Here’s a 2001 Fender American Standard Precision Bass in a (rare?) Sunset Orange Transparent finish. This is my favorite Precision bass out of the three that I have but I’m unfortunately finding myself in a position where I need a 5-string again so...

This bass has been upgraded with a Fender Custom Shop ‘62 pickup and sounds AMAZING! Might be my favorite precision pickup to date. Also has CTS 250K pots, vintage cloth wiring, and a Sprague Orange Drop capacitor. Newer Fender High Mass Vintage bridge as well.

Weighs 8.5lbs according to my bathroom scale, which has been very accurate for me in the past.

She’s not in mint condition by any means but she’s in really great shape for being 17 years old and having been played A LOT. No paint chips or anything like that but there are some dings and dents that can be tough to find unless you’re looking for them. There are some finish cracks on the bottom and it looks like somebody did some finish repair work at some point, which I’ve tried to highlight in the pictures below. There’s also a very small finish crack near the neck but it does not affect the bass in any way.

The neck is in pretty good shape but does have a few small dings in it, a couple of them being a little more noticeable. Depending on where you’re playing on the neck, and how you position your hand, you may or may not feel them. I’m a stickler for nice, clean, smooth necks and this bass never bothered me. Maybe the combination of being so light and sounding so great subconsciously made me forget they’re even there?

Comes with an older Fender hardshell case (‘90’s?) in great shape.

Looking to get $850 shipped CONUS OR trade for an EBMM Stingray 5, or potentially a G&L Kiloton 5. I can add a little cash for the right one.

    Thanks!

Drop a D-tuner on her and call it a day. ... Wow, I love the orange trans and Alumium guard. ... I've got a 2000 Sting Ray in Trans, w/matching headstock, that I've pulled the blk guard from but, thinking this is the way to go. ... Remember what Frank sang, "Regrets, I've had a few." ... What about a restring to BEAD?

@d00dr Don't worry. I have plans for it. Gonna fill sand the chips in the neck, and strip and wet sand/polish the body. Maybe try to find some nail polish in the right color to fill the body chip.
