Nice looking bass. Obviously has had some upgrades, which I imagine make it play/sound great! I considered a blonde when I bought my Engle, but decided instead to go w/ a brown gamba.

What year is it? I'm curious about the discoloration on the tuner plates. Mine are as shiny as the day I bought it 10 yrs ago or so.

No relation to the seller, and I know some people like to diss Engles, but I've had great experience w/ mine. Set up the way I like it, it is excellent for BG/oldtime. (Prolly not the bass you want to take to a symphony audition, tho!) ;) And mine has been absolutely solid and bulletproof.

    Good luck w/ the sale!

Hi, not sure of year as I took it in a trade, same with plate discoloration, its how I recieved it...it is a nice sounding bass, and amplified well.

According to Englehardt serial number data base...its a 2007. Thanks Ed S

Mine's a 2010. Yours is much cleaner than mine - far less edge wear. While I do not intentionaly beat it up, I LOVE having an inexpensive bass that I can treat somewhat casually.

Like I said, some people diss Engles, but I do not agree with them. Others say the necks are narrow and the construction became increasingly erratic in later years. Well, maybe I got lucky with the one I got, but I would put it up against the vast majority of Kays I've played (and I've played a great number of them.) Played some Kays I likes as well as my Engle - none I liked more.

IMO, the only thing most old Kays have over my bass is that old mojo. Undeniable. But the question is, how many $k is that mojo worth to you. Plus, you'll be buying the potential issues of an old bass. These things do not necessarily get MORE solid with each decade.

I'll leave it at that. Just saying, if this bass is anything like my Engle, it is a rock solid thumper. And the blonde is one sexy beast.

Ed. I'm reluctant to let it go! Its warm and punchy...I've owned one Kay and am familiar with several others and mostly it's a nostalgia thing with them...this Englehardt is a solid, bargain for the price.
