Very nice classic color jazz style instrument.
This one is in near perfect new mint condition.
    Built in 2011.

Hard shell case and other case candy comes with it.

Action is low and it is very easy to play.
It's every bit like going to bass shop and playing a demo.
Except this is 1/2 the price.

I am trying cull a few instruments from the herd. I have a flea bass, and tend to play it a little bit more, but this one is pretty even and certainly in virtually new shape. Funk, slap, tap, jazz, whatever you are into.

    1650$ shipped.

    What is the electronics layout?

    10lbs on average +/- maybe 4-8 oz
My scale is only so good.

    Bartolini Passive Electronics

Add an Aguilar OBP-3 18V 3-Band EQ Preamp and it would be sweet. ~100$ plus some work/labor. I think if I were to keep it, that's what I'd add.

Like most Modulus, very easy to play.

How about a pic of the back? The controls already look like there is an active pre amp. If there is an access plate with a battery under it on the back, it probably is already active.

I have this bass in stealth black. I had 4 Modulus and sold every one of them once I got this model setup and have started saving for another. Someone needs to snatch this one up!

It may have the Villex passive controls. I think there is a mid boost? I played a FU 5that had that setup once.

Mines active but the same knob layout and goes Volume/Pickups/Bass/Mids

I personally have never seen a passive VJ with that setup but who knows.

There is no battery or plate on the rear other than the neck to body plate.

I'll post a pic of the back, but you can easily imagine what it looks like without a battery or plate;)

Unless the battery goes in the front of this bass, it's not active electronics.

Also has the Badass bridge II.

    Some corrections on my part:

When I bought this bass from a fellow TB'er, I'd assumed it had active pu's. I checked the date of manf(2005) with Modulus, so it's not 2011. They bought the bass in 2011, but it was actually made in 2005 it seems.

So buyer's please note this correction.

I live near Modulus and likely would have them route and add the electronics as the job would be done right, and they actually would be very reasonable in pricing for any such work vs someone who does not do it all the time(custom job).

I think for myself, that is the only negative. I prefer the Flea bass neck more(little better access to upper frets+ more frets).......but the dual single coils are nice. Plenty of room to dig in and not trip over fat pu's. I suppose I could get another flea with a single + the double.

I have a couple of basses(Warwick and a Flea fretless 5er) with the single dual splits, not a bad trade off.

That said, this is pretty close to being one of my favorite basses. I'll likely see if I can find a nice flea 4 string fretless and a split flea pu mix. That's about the only reason I am selling this instrument.

It might be more worthwhile to have Modulus redo the electronics and keep her. But I do like the higher frets on on the flea and they cannot fix that.

Likely one of the top 5 basses I've played.
