What can I say about a fairly recent 4003 Mapleglow that hasn’t been said? I’ve had the bass for a little more than a year and never played it outside my home studio. I’d keep it if I could. But I’m pretty committed to short scales these days. As I’m about to retire, management says I can no longer keep what I don’t use.

This 2011 4003MG doesn’t appear to have ever been gigged, based on the lack of player wear and absence of dings or scratches. The only noticeable blemish is a small (less than a quarter inch) ding on the front edge at the top of the headstock (visible in picture).

As Mapleglow Rics go, this one is a beauty. Very nicely figured maple front and back (not always the case), pristine lacquered fingerboard (no longer available on new 4003s), nice pearloid shark teeth. Bridge is upgraded to a Hipshot (original Ric bridge is fine and is included) and treble bezel added. Near zero fret wear. The case is in good shape (see pic).
