Super smooth neck, low action - Hipshot detuner
    Sale only

Letting go of a superb bass - sale only - I found the LAkland PJ I was looking to trade for, so now this bass has to go. So please contact me with any serious offer.

I got this DJ a little more than a year ago from another TB'er. After lots of J's, it was the Jazz I always wanted. And it was. Great J sound, 8.8 lbs, fantastic feel and action (Pleked frets feel like nothing else!).

I played it for a month or so in rehearsals in my (smoke-free, no pets, very clean, etc) studio and even played it out once at a local band gig - But that's it - I've played the dream but I don't love it...

Why? I hate to say it - I'm just not a J guy. I've had my dream Jazz bass sitting in a stand for months - beautiful and unused.

I'm letting it go. It kills me, but I'm putting it up for less than I originally paid. Shipped to CONUS.

To preserve my feedback and reputation, I'll rate this bass as 8 out of 10, but most of us would have trouble discerning any issues beyond out of the box handling marks. The only mark I find is an odd discoloration in the finish on the headstock at the margin of the A tuner (visible - but see pic). No problem with the headstock or tuner function.

Here are the pics the original seller posted. I'll post a fresh batch over the weekend, but they won't look different. A couple of other details: The neck has some nice figuring and the bass comes with a great SKB case.

Please PM any questions. Thanks for looking and please be well.

That’s the nicest one of this I’ve seen! Curious - what is the max width across the body?

It’s a beauty for sure. You raise a good question. The DJ body is somewhat streamlined compared to the standard J body. I’m out of town till Thursday but will post the measurement as soon as possible.

What's the weight? Also, Are these the original tuners? Wondering about the washers under them on the back of the headstock.

It weighs 8.8 lb via bathroom scale. I’m not the original owner but the Skyline DJs all sport Hipshot Ultralights just like the ones on this bass. I’m supposing the Hipshot Dtuner is also original equipment, since LAkland offers it as an option on the DJs.

The width across the hips is 13” if you measure perpendicular to the neck and 13.5” if you measure from one hip point to the other.

No problem. The DJ is an interesting mod of the traditional J shape. To my eye the DJ mostly looks as if a J got condensed or squeezed to reduce width between the horns and between the hips. I find it a bit more comfortable to play and handle and a little sportier looking - but no knock on the traditional J. Thanks for looking.

The weight is a little above my max range (67 year old neck and back) but GLWTS. It’s a great looking bass and a great price.

I’ve used Italia 4” straps to save my back ever since I bought a 10+ lb Alembic. I highly recommend spreading the weight out w a wide strap. I’m 65 w the normal crappy back and neck issues. I can wear a heavy bass all night w a wide enough strap without issues. Try it.
