Home alone putzing in the shop. Doing a setup on my 2014 sandblasted Fender Precision. I haven't spent a whole lot of time with this bass, I bought it because as a artisan I dig the whole sandblasted thing. I have to hand it to Fender, minor tweak to the truss rod and the action is as low as anything I own. I use it mostly for noddling on the couch and learning material. It is light and very resonate. Shhhhhhh don't tell anyone how much I like this bass. I know as a Thunderbird guy blasphemy.
Same here, the sand blasted finish looks terrific. A few additional colors would force me into terminal GAS mode for one. I'd bite on a green one for sure. Kinda surprised they didn't offer it in Sand Blasted Black.
Too bloody late, the turncoat has been found out!!!! Never again will Scott be allowed to post without this being mentioned!! I'll not mention my fondness to my Fender Jazz
Not usually a fan of basses from Fender but I really want one of those. Played a sandblast jazz in a shop back to back with a few other US models and the sandblast was the best of the bunch. Still wish I had bought it then. You have a really nice looking bass there.
I have never owned, and had never had the desire to own, any Fender basses until they started producing these sandblasted models. If I ever get a chance to sit down with one and try it out, and it sounds and feels as good as it looks, I might finally lose my "Fender cherry"...
Beautiful bass! I always liked the look of the red ones over the blue. These should've came without a pickguard to show off more of that lovely sandblastedness. What's the routing like underneath the pickguard?
that's pretty much where i run the action on my basses. i really like the look of the body in red but please bear in mind what it really is, is that they figured out how to lower production costs by doing this type of finish. of course the end result is what matters but personally, i feel that type of finish should be cheaper to the customer because it's cheaper for the manufacturer to put out.
