Up for sale is a very cool 2016 Fender MIM Geddy Lee Jazz Bass in excellent condition. This bass sounds great and is very quiet (no cycle hum). Some light swirling on front and back, light fret wear, but this thing looks brand new even close up. Comes with original white pickguard, black pickguard, F Neck Plate, and original neck plate. The neck is straight and truss works. Weighs in at 9.1lbs on my scale. Bought recently from a cool TBer here - SOLD - 2016 MIM Geddy This is really a great Geddy, I am just parting with it because my P basses get all of the playing time. Comes with a decent Gator hard case. $625 shipped CONUS Trade offers for Precisions, PJs, or similar considered. Shoot me a PM.
To me, they are similar animals but your tastes determine the best fit. Having had all versions, I would sum it up by saying (just my $.02) - 1. The old CIJ/MIJs are very cool, the "pencil" necks are the thinnest of the 3 (CIJ/MIM/MIA), and the pickup hotness can vary substantially. I think folks tend to swap the pickups after awhile (Aguilar Hots are BA in these.) The tuning machines on these arent as solid as their contemporary counterparts. "Counterparts" - see what I did there! 2. The MIMs have a little bit thicker neck and can feel a little more "substantial". I think the stock pickups are pretty good and not as thin sounding as the CIJs but I have seen output vary on these too. 3. For completeness sake, the MIA has an even chunkier neck than the other two. Stock pickups sound great. This is a great MIA Jazz overall and Pearl blocks are very cool. Lots more $$. I think they all are very cool and I think this one I have posted here is one of the best Geddys I have had the pleasure of playing regardless of country of origin. Very nice fit altogether and the previous owner took care of it. That being said, the reason I am selling this is that I prefer P neck profiles, nut width, and mids without having to EQ elsewhere. It would just sit out the gigs I am afraid. Besides, it would be blasphemy to tear this one apart and put a P neck on it. Good luck on the deal you have going. If it all doesn't pan out, this one is here.
