***Update - I sold this one locally a while back but the buyer is a friend and got hit with a few unexpected medical bills so I offered to take it back, virtually untouched since then and still in the same fine shape that it was a year and a half ago, which is something that I’d hesitate to say about myself*** Try as many times as I can I am just not a good fit for short or medium scale basses, I was born a thirty-four incher and will die a thirty-four incher. Built by the Marusczcyk folks, this is one of the the foxiest things to come out of Poland since Anna Draganska. A very comfortable 7 pounds 12 ounces for those who like the light ones, thinner C shaped 32” medium scale 1.8” nut width / 2.475” at the 12th ebony board with a semi-hollow mahogany body and way swank flamed redwood top. String spacing at the nut is .375” and at the bridge .675”, all passive VVTT setup with Delano SBC pickups and separate series / single / parallel switching plus a factory battery box in case the desire to add a preamp strikes at a later date. Great string balance across the board including the B, very playable. In excellent shape with no dings or bruises or kielbasa stains, with the original Mensinger gig bag and all factory paperwork including the “Electric Bass Guitar User’s Manual” just in case the potential purchaser doesn’t know how to use an electric bass guitar. $1350 plus half of the shipping as UPS has apparently recently decided to replace their entire fleet at the same time.
Nice bass. What's the neck width at the 12th fret? How would you describe the shape of the back of the neck (C, D, etc.)? Thanks, DM
I owned this bass for a while and I would say “thinner C” is a fair description of the neck profile. This is a fantastic instrument in every regard. The figuring of the flamed Redwood top is stunning and looks very three-dimensional in natural light. Here are a few pics I took when I had it that show off the top wood nicely:
I'm a little late to this party. Is it still available? If so, I'd love to hear some clips too. I haven't found any vids of the Leaf out there, although their other hollow bodies sound amazing.
Whoops, my apologies for leaving the thread open but this one is gone. I am way too much of a luddite to be able to post sound samples but suffice it to say that the B was tight and shakes walls. It has long been my opinion that the construction of a well-built fiver has virtually nothing to do with the nature and feeling of the B while the string itself is virtually everything. If I didn’t feel so cramped on a shorter scale I would have kept this one but a good .130 or so B on the Leaf was thunderous.
Thanks for the update and your impressions. I'll keep my eyes out for one of these. I've been looking for a medium scale 5er for a while, and I love the look of the half-hollow body.
