I posted more full size images of the front of the bass. Sorry, my mobile phone has crazy issues when posting thumbnails on the forum sometimes. Definitely check on of these out to hear the difference. Hopefully, it will be my low end weapon of choice, until the Reissue of the GIbson Grabber Bass somehere between now and the end of my lifetime. I won't cross my fingers on the Grabber. I see your feedback on virtually every Sire Bass club topic, & you have an ear for what bass should sound like. I would be excited if you randomly ran across one of these at a music store to see what you think. For a passive bass, they did wonders with the shapable tone on the split coils. All in all, I will dive into yet another sire hopefully by Christmas. You cannot beat those sire preamps for the money.

But there are lots of other basses out there too, I've got a small collection of nice old Gibsons, but nothing recent. That one sounds tempting. 
It is hard to find a bass that will play better than the sire 4 less than $1,000. GAS is an addiction not easily cured! I only traded in my SG due to having this 70's Epiphone short scale from my grandfather. I play the Epiphone through a gibson thor bass amp to get get closer to the eb sound, even with the maple neck. I don't care if it's a fender or a gas can with strings from the Czech Republic; I want to own and play them all!
