View attachment 3409782 I just had the EB5 delivered to the house. I have to say I am very impressed with the quality and sound of this USA made instrument. I got this bass for less than $1000 and traded in my Sire M2 and SG Bass virtually break even on a new 5 stringer. The tone is very modern, and the pickups split to single coil for a funky tone. Very impressed and happy.

I haven't been keeping up with Gibson's latest but that looks pretty nice. How's it play / sound?

Wow. Some more angled pics please. Didn’t realize you could see the relief in the wood grain like that on those.

Like that beefy babicz brige too!

The bass plays very good. The high tone isn't as articulate as my old sire bass. This passive bass has excellent mid tone when switching to the single coil, and the low B has excellent stability. It definitely has a modern sound and the quality of set up from factory is very good.Minor adjustent on string height will be easy with the Babicz bridge. Overall, an impressive set up for an unbeatable price. As with all Gibson basses, you will love it, or love to hate it regardless of how great it sounds. Better sustain than my warwick $$, and the swamp ash body is easy on the back, and works good with the maple neck.

Three full size inserts of the back but only a thumbnail of the front?.
I posted more full size images of the front of the bass. Sorry, my mobile phone has crazy issues when posting thumbnails on the forum sometimes. Definitely check on of these out to hear the difference. Hopefully, it will be my low end weapon of choice, until the Reissue of the GIbson Grabber Bass somehere between now and the end of my lifetime. I won't cross my fingers on the Grabber. Live Long and Prosper.

I see your feedback on virtually every Sire Bass club topic, & you have an ear for what bass should sound like. I would be excited if you randomly ran across one of these at a music store to see what you think. For a passive bass, they did wonders with the shapable tone on the split coils. All in all, I will dive into yet another sire hopefully by Christmas. You cannot beat those sire preamps for the money.

Yeah, I'm a Sire fan, an "early adopter" as it were, and don't hide it. :D But there are lots of other basses out there too, I've got a small collection of nice old Gibsons, but nothing recent. That one sounds tempting.

It is hard to find a bass that will play better than the sire 4 less than $1,000. GAS is an addiction not easily cured! I only traded in my SG due to having this 70's Epiphone short scale from my grandfather. I play the Epiphone through a gibson thor bass amp to get get closer to the eb sound, even with the maple neck. I don't care if it's a fender or a gas can with strings from the Czech Republic; I want to own and play them all! Greenbacks are the only thing holding me back!
