    Hi There,

I realise that this post has prolly been done a million times before, but some jedi-like advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am considering adding a 2x10 cabinet to my hartke 4000 head and old school laney 250w 15" speaker.

these seem to be the realistic options:

    AMPEG svt 210 200/400w (expensive!)
    SWR workingman 210 200w
    ASHDOWN mag 210 200/300w
    WARWICK 211 pro 400w
    HARTKE 210xl 200w
    LANEY new 210 350w

oh yeah, i play i a noisy rock band, so which would be best for me?!

I live in the uk, so cabs such as eden/avatar/acme etc are either prohibitively pricey or don't ship.

    help!

I can give you experience on a few as I just did my shopping:

    AMPEG svt 210 200/400w (expensive!)
compared it at home with my ex-SWR Goliath Junior 3, they sound very similar with the horn on the SWR almost cut, with the horn in, the SWR stood out (and the owner of the Ampeg is now selling his and bought mine!)

    SWR workingman 210 200w
seemed flat and characterless compared to the Goliath Junior.

    ASHDOWN mag 210 200/300w
    ?? no experience

    WARWICK 211 pro 400w
stayt away from this, it is cheap and sounds it.

    HARTKE 210xl 200w
    ?? no experience

    LANEY new 210 350w
    ?? no experience

If you can, give the EBS 210 a try as well, I just bought the 410 to replace a 2*10 + 1*15 SWR rig and wow!

cheers for that, as i'm prolly not gonna get the chance to try these cabs out!

Thing is, the goliath is twice the price of the workingmans cab and i really don't want to go over my budget of £400.

I wouldn't know where to get EBS over here!

Anyone else sampled the listed cabs?

I used to have a Hartke 2x10. By itself, it didn't have the bottom end that you'll need, nor the volume.

Their pricier, but you should consider Aguilar and Eden 2x10's, are fairly reasonable when bought used.
