24 fret 4 string bass?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by johnm0187, Dec 10, 2013.

  1. Hey everyone,

It's been awhile since I've been on these message boards. Either way, I've been looking into getting a new bass, and I would like it to be a 4 string with 24 frets which is not as easy to come by as I originially expected. In most stores I go to, there are none, so I have been thinking that I might have to go custom. Does anyone have any recommendations of basses that would fit this description? You can hear some of my music to get an idea of what I'll playing here: www.soundcloud.com/professor-john-2 I'm looking to spend around $1500 but my budget is not set in stone.

    Thank you for any input,

    Professor John

Any Warwick with the exception of the new Streamer CV is going to have at least 24 frets.

  7. Both my Ibanez SRs have 24 frets. I *think* most of the Ibbys do.

  9. Brand new Fender Jazz Bass 24 here, but in flat black (satin) for $499:

If you notice it is available from Alto Music. As of today, they still have seven others, some maybe in other colors.

Their info is here if you want to go new and see if they have any naturals or other colors:

It'd be harder to get ahold of, but I played a Dan Armstrong Plexi-bass that had 24 frets. It was pretty sweet. It's cool too cause you can swap the pickups on it

  16. The Gibsons are actually great for slap and look much sexier.
  17. BINGO. Go to the Carvin website. Check out this model and also the area on Carvin bass features.

Here's my fretless LB70P that they put in the catalog last summer:

  19. Thanks for the input everyone! I have played a 5 string Bongo but have not played a 4, I'll have to go try one out, and I will also look into the Carvins and the 24 fret Jazz basses. I know the guitar center by me will have Bongos and Jazz basses, but is there any retail store that carries Carvins?
