Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me? I've searched and not found what I'm looking for. I'm after a wiring diagram for 2x Dualcoils running into a 3 or 5 way blade switch. I'm looking to run the bass without a blend and straight to volume (preamp). Key positions I'm after are: 1. Inner coils 2. Parallel 3. Outer coils These settings would be for both pickups, I remember reading in my search for an answer that some 3 way switches won't do parallel for both pickups? so I'm happy to have a 5 way switch if that gives more options. Thanks in advance,
I wired a Warwick $$ with a five-way Megaswitch, using the EBMM HH configuration. It was straightforward. The owner loves it!
That's probably the best-balanced layout for two splittable humbuckers and a 5 way switch. Every position is usable and there won't be a gigantic difference in signal strength. You had better like parallel coil tone though!
I can work one up for you later. The reason it’s easy is that all of the settings use parallel coils. That means all the grounds just go straight to ground, and each of the four hot leads gets one segment of the Megaswitch.
That would be fantastic! I'll grab one of the switches today from stewmac. Thanks so much for your help
Hi, I was just wondering if you managed to find a wiring diagram for that parallel setup you sent me? No worries if not, I'll have to see if I can figure it out
^^ @ctmullins If you do draw one up, could you please post it? I can nut it out, but if someone's already done it...
Sorry, it turned into a busy work week! Here ya go - think of the two pickups as four individual coils, and each coil is mated to one of the four sections of the SuperSwitch, turning the coils on/off in each position.
Thanks so much. Looks like my first build project will be an SR5HH with a Status neck. Just got to work out the pickups now, but I'll post a thread on that in a moment.
If I may, this wiring from @ctmullins has setting n°3 put all 4 coils in parallel, right ? This is different from the drawing posted up there, or am I missing something ?
Correct; position 3 is all four coils in parallel, in both drawings. There is a little symbol on the factory drawing, between the two pickups, that is perhaps a bit hard to see.
It looks to me like 2 pickups in parallel, where each pickup is internally wired in series ! I thought this was more common and interesting than 4 coils in parallel Not super-clear to me but I must be the problem since I have not read and done many wirings before. Anyways if someone wants that alternate wiring I have it
