I run an Avatar 2x12 on top af an Avatar 15

My main amp in a Fender Bassman 300 (the sunn 300 t reissue)

    Sounds good to me.

It's plenty loud. The 15 adds more texture to the sound than volume in my case. I really like the warm round character of 15s, and the 12s give me more clarity, without reproducing the sharper clarity 10s generally have.

The sound wasn't nearly as rumbly or muddy as I'd initially expected.

    Try a Genz-Benz NeoX212---you won't need the 15".

lots of cats run that sort of combo and depending upon the speaker cabunets used it can sound great.

Depends on the brand(s), depends on your personal taste. But really, that combo should work fine.
