Chuck Sher publishes my book, WALKING BASSICS:The Fundamentals of Jazz Bass Playing.
Since the person who is obviously the drummer in the photograph is scratching his head in befuddlement, the bassist, again obviously, is playing in waltz time, rather than four to the bar walking.

Wiki says that Robert Wadlow died at age 22 in 1940. 8'11". Guy scratchin' his head, holding a cigarette, must be the bass player, dude. Robert must of been in a lot of pain, but he sure had a lot of dignity from what I can tell.:)

I don't play in 3/4, ever. I turn it into 6/8, emphasize beats 1 and 4, then ignore the other 2, don't ever need 'em. Therefore 3/4 is always 4/4.:D

Oh, he must be the dude outside Ripley's Believe It Or Not. Didn't know he died so young, that's sad.

Sweet picture, though. How many gag pictures did this guy pose for??
