Notice these today at Musician's Friend: Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Bass Black Maple Fingerboard - $199 G&L Tribute M2000 GTS 4-String Electric Bass Transparent Black Rosewood Fretboard - $449 Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass - $349
I bought an M2000 in Honeyburst as the SDoTD awhile back and it did not disappoint...a very nice instrument. i heard there was some quality problems with some people and i was a little hesitant. But fit and finish was beautiful out of the box on mine. You get a lot for your money with G&L Tributes
I just returned my AFB200 to GC, and they price matched the 199 on the Tele bass in black. Should have it next week
Just bought the Telecaster. I wanted the Blonde but it's not on sale. A recent print catalog shows the Blonde for 199.99.
I picked up one of these Affinity Precisions on sale for 149: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/squier-p-bass-electric-guitar The plan was to use it to test some electronics changes prior to modding my more expensive basses. However, it's a great bass for the money. There are only two issues I can find: a bit of fret sprout, and the tuners are the closed-back variety with the small tuning pegs. Honestly, it's all you really need. Well, and an amp.
