    What he said.

  6. I thought he meant skelf's basses are so great, all other competitors might as well give up now that he entered :p
    lost in translation I guess...

That's what was meant, it was a backhanded compliment, but you are right Skelf it's the taking part that counts.
I'll use it as a 'learning experience' anyway, in fact I may well be drawing on your experience in working/finishing Wenge if you don't mind.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work

Hi Hj love the look of your build cracking shape.

So I have another bass that will make the criteria for the comp.

J Type as well with the following spec.

    Satinwood back and top.
    Acrylic Impregnated Satinwood board.
    Alder body with maple neck.
    Black accents are dyed maple.
Hipshot type A Gotoh GB7 tuners Dunlop straplocks all black.
ACG FB hum buckers into an ACG EQ03 5K/AP pre-amp.

I started making this bass for myself but changed my mind as usual. It was started 3rd week in May,I have asked if this complies with the rules but have not had a reply. If anyone feels that this is not allowed just let me know and I will remove it.

Alan, I cant speak for the community but I suspect that wont be an issue. The goal is really just to get as many people as we can posting builds. I'm glad you can join in. The bass is sharp, I love "dirty" fingerboards.

    Hi
Just got the OK on this bass. Unfortunately I don't have to many pics so if anyone has any questions regarding building please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.

Forgot to say that the Satinwood bass will be fretless. The slots will be filled with black veneer.

Hey, the more the merrier, right? I'm not expecting to win, anyway, so I'm really just having fun seeing what everyone does within the guidelines.

BTW, you should have told that satinwood board to use latex instead of acrylic, if it didn't want to get impregnated.:bag:
