Their newest is a good one. I found it a little plain, but it's a great record nonetheless.

Now, your thoughts, fellow bass dudes.

I didn't listen to the whole thing, as it isn't mine, but I did listen to the first six or so tracks, and I was pretty impressed with it. I think P-nut switched from a Thumb to a Streamer for this record, but don't quote me on it. His tone was warm and nice, and the songs were composed quite well.

    I recommend it.

I have listened to the whole album several times. Like one said earlier, the first 6, or so, songs are tight, instantlyg good. The rest of the album takes a few listenings, and then it is addictive. Straight forward rock, and sweet vocal melodies.

I always buy thier CD, they never let me down. All of their stuff is thoughtful, It drives me mad when people say they only like their old stuff. ITS ALL GOOD. Just because they don't talk about dope as much, doesn't mean they are bad.

It's not hitting hitting me as quick as From Chaos but the melodies and loveliness of it all is coming to me slowly. 311 has to be one of the only bands that will make me want to pick up the bass and start playing immediately.
As was said before, it's a lil' plain, but after a while you start lovin' it!

    :) :bassist:

I think the plainess comes from their decision to differ from some of the complex songs in From Chaos, and their decision to make this album a little Beatle-esque (Revolver = Evolver). P-nut is awesome. Oh, and he hasn't really used Thumbs (as far as I can tell) for awhile, he has been an endorser for the Streamer II for awhile now.

Ok, I take it all back. Its grown on me... the lull in the middle bums me out, but the first 4 and last 3 songs are quite nice. Good job guys. And I love the bass on Don't Dwell!! Rock on P-Nut! :bassist:

Saw them last night, and just like the other times I saw them, P-Nut had great tone live. From what I've heard of their new c.d. it is good, and has great bass. I would definately recommend seeing them live!

His bass is always great sounding, punchy, and in your face. It's not going to get lost in the mix.

i digged the last track 11 - Sometimes Jacks Rule the Realm,
on the end there's a great instrumental by P-NUT
and it's very fresh and warm sounding.

Track 10 I think, "Other Side of Things" is my favorite song. At first it was my least favorite, but if you listend to the whole song, it is absolutly beautiful.

What if it were true, that you weren't so blue, and you felt like you could do anything, YEAA!

Man that is awesome, I think chad wrote this song too. At any rate, heres a question: WHAT DO YOU THINK THE NEXT SINGLE WILL BE??????????????

I'm pretty sure it will be Reconsider Everything (#2) because that was the first song off of Evolver that they played live, which was on their PPV show a few months back. I wish it would be Don't Dwell (#9), but I don't think it is quite long enough for their liking of a single.

Does anyone know the tab for Don't Dwell? Or could they tab it, por favor?

I am part of 311's street team, and I really think it is up in the air. Yesterday, they send all of the street teamers an email asking what our favorite song is. After graduating with a Marketing degree it seems to me that it is some market research into what the next single should be.

NUTboy I figured out Dont dwell, it is not that hard. Also, if you watched the dvd section of the disk they show him recording it for like 1o sec. you can see his hands pretty well.

    this CD is great!
although i don't think they can ever top "transistor", i'm liking "evolver" better than their last 2 efforts. p-nut is definitely funky and fun to play along to. i have been teaching the main riff of "don't dwell" to all of my bass students these last 2 weeks!
Nuttboy311, if you're still wanting the tabs i can bring them home to scan and figure out how to post it for you. let me know...

That's right, I almost forgot about that. It just moves a little fast, so I was hoping to get an idea for a tab just to work off of, even if the tab or notation wasnt perfect. I'm rambling now, lol.

311 does rule and so does the album. Pnut is a streamer 2 user, but he does use a thumb for the fretless stuff. great album, a little to short, but much much better than from chaos
