Is the 32" scale 4-string becoming more popular and desirable? It has been capturing my attention and interest recently and I'm guessing I'm not alone. What say you?
I think I have a sense of deja vu http://www.talkbass.com/threads/is-there-a-quality-medium-scale-fender-jazz-or-equivalent.1121488/
Sorry about that...search was not my friend on this one, perhaps because I was looking for a more generic (non-Fender) perspective.
Here's another, recent thread that you might find interesting: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/is-there-a-quality-medium-scale-fender-jazz-or-equivalent.1121488/ Ooops: didn't click on the link in previous posts before posting. Duh...
I love a nice 32" scale bass . I also love a nice 34" scale bass and have no problem playing 35" or multiscale basses . A 32" scale bass fits your hand like a glove . They are very easy to get around on . They still sound like a "normal" bass . With fine builders like Alembic and now many other current builders and even suppliers like Warmoth making them it's much easier to get your hands on one . I have 3 of them already so yeah I say yay !
The open strings of a long scale bass sound better than that of the medium IMO. I think the intonation is also better on the 34'. Other than those two factors, the medium scale is better. There's more tone with the 32'.
